Hi Karen I know we did not get far with our discussion of Schmuhl's in Berrien and Wisconsin. As I research I am more and more certain that they are probably all related and may even have known one another in the "old country". After all they came from little villages a few miles apart. My message this time is that since I wrote to you last I have discovered that when my great great grandfather Carl Johann Schmuhl was baptised, one of the sponsors was Johann Christoph Tietböhl - of Daberkow. I was wondering if you have a Johann Chrsitoph Tietböhl in your data? Carl Johann was from Kartlow and from what I can figure by the maps in MapQuest, Daberkow was only 4½ miles from there. Evidently all these people were related - The other two sponsors were Carl Christoph Heydel from Kartlow and Sophia Catharina Carolina Brandenburg the sister if the mother (Magdelene Marie (Brandenburg) Schmuhl.
Later Carl married Friederike Marie Dorothee Prignitz in Plötz - she was from Wilhelminthal. These individuals were all born in the same generation, were growing up in villages that were within easy walking distances of one another - They had to have been related - But today I was wondering about Johann Chrsitoph Tietböhl - could he have been related to August Tietböhl? ps - re Schmuhl's in Michigan City IN - I find that Wilhelmine Schmuhl born in 1834 ? (not sure of that date) married Frederick Voltz and in 1920 census (I believe) Wilhelmine mnust have died and Fred was living with his daughter and son-in-law whose name was Westphal - My gg grandfather's next brother Friedrich married Johanna Westphal from Altentreptow - which is just below Daberkow and Wietzow - so all these names are tied in together - the onlt thing missing is the key as to how they are tied together.
