The records of the marriages of two of his dauhters place him in Lake Township of Berrien County in 1892: Maude M. Brant married William Knight in Bridgman, Lake Township, Michigan on 04 Oct 1892. Her father is recorded as G. M. Brant and her mother as Hannah M. Hoxey. Hoxey is also seen in local records as Hoxie. I believe Hannah M. Hoxey is the Minerva Brant seen in the 1880 census in Nebraska. Maude M. Brant’s birthplace is recorded as “Berrien County”. Lilly Brant married George Bishop on 14 Oct 1892 in Bridgman, Lake Township, Michigan. The record shows her father as George Brant and her birthplace as “Pipestone” Township. This record is interesting in that most of it appears to have been erased from the ledger. At this time the record of marriages were kept at the township level and then sent to the county level and transposed into these ledger books. It is unclear why the damage to this particular record exists. No record for the marriage of George M. Brant and Hannah M. Hoxey has been found in Berrien County. Their death records also do not exist here. George Brant’s brothers William and Phillip lived in Lake Township.
