Hi Renee - Thank you for responding to my message.
The Joseph Corlis (b. 1824 - Canada) listed in the 1870 census for New Haven was married to Cornelia Price (b. 1838 Kent County MI) in 1854 in Ada, Kent County, MI - this was in his pension record. They moved to South Dakota in 1880.Their children were Jerome - 1856, Loretta (Jennie) - 1858, Melissa - 1860, Clarissa - 1868, William A. - 1872, b. "Grand Haven," Arthur - 1878, b. "Grand Haven," (so this had to be New Haven), and Rose.
I recently found that Joseph's parents were Abraham W. Corlis (ca 1802-NY)and Elizabeth Showers (d. bef. 1845-Canada). Other children, siblings of Joseph, were Mary Louisa - ca 1826, John S. - ca 1833, William S. - 1834 - all b. Canada, and Sarah - 1840.I have little information on these children, or on Joseph's children, either.
Also, have found nothing on Cornelia's parents, Jeremiah Price (b. 1814-possibly PA) and his wife Jane Anna Johnson (b. 1818-NY), and wondered if they had lived near their daughter Cornelia.
Usually people don't set off entirely on their own, so I was hoping that some of Joseph and Cornelia's family may have moved with them to New Haven, or possibly Shade? I'm pretty sure I wrote to Gratiot County for records, and got a negative reply.I've been having quite a bit of trouble finding any records in Michigan.Would certainly appreciate any help. Thanks again.
I just noticed that you mentioned E-mailing this.I'm not sure it's working, as I'm getting a negative message on it.So, I hope you see this.
