Jeanette (Mousseau) Dell'Acqua, 64, of Traverse City, met with her Lord Jesus on Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. She died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born June 27, 1940, in Kinde, the seventh of 12 children, she was the daughter of Nelson and Arla (Chapdelaine) Mousseau. On Aug. 31, 1963, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Kinde, she married Richard James Dell'Acqua, who survives.
Jan was an active parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and served as a treasurer of the Women's Club. She also managed the Center for Peace and the Catholic Resource Center. Jan attended daily Mass and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her six children and seven grandchildren.
Jan escorted many pilgrimages to Medjugorje, Yugoslavia, and assisted in refugee camps during the Bosnian war.
Jan will be missed by her family and friends for her empathy, unconditional and binding love; but, especially, for her laughter.
Along with her husband, Dick, survivors include her children, Denise (Michael) Dyson of Eaton Rapids, Matthew (Caitriona) Dell'Acqua of Chicago, Ill., Anthony Dell'Acqua of Traverse City, Jennifer (Scott) Trotter of Chicago, Ill., Danielle (John) Rockwood of Bethesda, Md., and Sarah Dell'Acqua of Grosse Pointe Park; grandchildren, Cody, Logan, Christopher, Violette, Emilie, Kate and Nolan; four sisters, Georgina (Edward) Blach of New Port Richey, Fla., Donna (George) Ruth of Marion, Ind., Elaine (Frank) Schultz and Susanne (Thomas) Stahl, all of Bad Axe; six brothers, Maurice (Delores) Mousseau and David Mousseau, all of Kinde, Jerome (Diane) Mousseau of Saginaw, Joseph (Theresa) Mousseau of Sterling, Lawrence (Kathy) Mousseau of Traverse City, and Daniel (Jennifer) Mousseau of Unionville.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Ann Marie Dell'Acqua; sister, Loree (John) Rice; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Mousseau.
Friends may call on Wednesday, July 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City, where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 8. The Rev. Fr. Michael Janowski will serve as celebrant. Burial will be in Oakwood Catholic Diocesan Cemetery.
