Sorry to be so long in posting a reply.I mainly work on family history in the summer.I got "Schoolcraft, MI" as the answer for "where married" on Pheda (sometimes seen as Phebe) J.(believed to be Jane or Jayne) Pierce Stanton's application for widow's pension.Lyman Stanton was in Michigan 11th Infantry, Company G in the Civil War.She states they were married by Esquire Bennett, and the date of marriage is given as 22 March, 1862.I believe it was 22 March 1863.Lyman was serving active duty in the south in 1862.He was discharged 4, March 1863, in Nashville, TN.
Per the widow's pension application, neither of them had been previously married.Someone searched Kalamazoo, Co. marriage records and said they couldn't find it.I'm willing to bet they really got married in St. Joseph County. He enlisted at White Pigeon and lived near there; although I can't immediately remember the name of the village.I don't think they were ever in the Upper Penninsula.
The widow's pension also states he was born in Warren, Pennsylvania. There is a town, Warren in Warren Co., PA.So that really narrows it down. They were in Sauk Co., Wisconsin by 1871.
I'd love to hear you again. Thanks for your reply and your interest.
