DEERFIELD — Janet Marie Lanz, 60, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 3, 2008.
Janet was born on Oct. 27, 1947, in Tecumseh, the daughter of Richard and Georgette (Van Haerents) Pieh. She graduated for Deerfield High School in 1965, and was married on July 7, 1967, to Keith “Skeeter” Lanz.
Janet worked at Deerfield Public Schools and later at the Adrian Training School. She was a past member of the Deerfield Fire Department Auxiliary, the Deerfield American Legion Post #392 Auxiliary and had served on the Deerfield Village Council. She enjoyed bowling, golf, and spending summers with family and friends at their cottage at Marr Lake. Janet was very generous with her time, and always was the first to help anyone in need. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her three children, Allyn (Rhonda) Lanz of Tipton, Amy (Mark) Madalinski of Blissfield, and Brian (Jackie) Lanz of Milan; her mother, Georgette Pieh of Largo, Fla.; brother Robert (Dee) Pieh of Deerfield; eight grandchildren, Dustin MacDonald, Stephanie Lanz, Kelsey Allen, Dylan MacDonald, Ryan Madalinski, Abby Jean Madalinski, Allycia Lanz, and Ashlee Lanz; brother-in-law Gary Lanz of Tucson, Ariz.; sister-in-law Kay (Russell) Bierley of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; niece Arin (Jeff) Rudd of Blissfield; nephew Brad (Amber) Pieh of Jackson; special friends Dick and Barb Iott; and many other nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Keith, father, Richard Pieh, and father and mother-in-law Carl and Regina Lanz.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Blissfield, with Fr. Francis Mossholder officiating. Burial will follow at Deerfield Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield. A prayer service will be held Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Deerfield American Legion Post #392, or to the Deerfield Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the Tagsold Funeral Home.
