ADRIAN — Elwyn E. Outman, age 91, of Adrian, passed away at his home on Friday, April 11, 2008.
He was born on August 31, 1916, in Onsted, Michigan, the son of Ervin E. and Hazel F. (White) Outman. Elwyn graduated from Onsted High School with the Class of 1934.
During World War II he served in the Army and was stationed in the South Pacific. On November 29, 1945, Elwyn married Helen Route at the Onsted Baptist Parsonage. Helen, his wife of over 62 years, survives.
Elwyn was self-employed in the petroleum equipment industry. He was a member of the Adrian VFW.
In addition to his wife, Elwyn is survived by nieces and nephews, Milton Williams of Arkansas, David Williams of Tipton, Sharon Drennan of Jackson, Joseph Bussuttil of Colorado, George Bowers of South Carolina, Ruth Warren of Detroit, Rae Ann Jones of North Dakota, Robert Outman of Missouri, Mark Bowers of Onsted, Barbara Thompson of Adrian, and Erva Manley of Tecumseh. Also surviving are many great-nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, and two nephews, Dale Williams and Eric Outman.
A memorial service for Elwyn will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Wagley Funeral Home with his nephew James Manley officiating. Private burial will be at Maple Shade Cemetery in Onsted at a later date. The family will receive guests on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Elwyn may be directed to Hospice of Lenawee.
