Re 4th Michigan Volunteer Army, recruited from the southern tier of counties of the State, and was organized by Colonel Dwight A. Woodbury at Adrian.
Lindenbower, Wheeler, Hudson. Enlisted in Company C, Fourth Infantry, for 3 years.Mustered September 30, 1861. Age 21. Height 5’7½”. Complexion light. Eyes blue. Hair brown. February 1862 injured by the Colonel’s horse kicking him in the head, damaging his left eye. Took to wearing dark blue glasses. Missing in action at Malvern Hill, Virginia, July 1, 1862.Given Furlough from July 5, 1862 to August 5, 1862 to take Col Woodbury horses home, finally returned to regiment until April 1, 1863. Hostler for Colonel Jeffords. Discharged for disability at Bealton, Virginia, March 29, 1864. Was Colonel Woodbury’s Personal Aid and Hostler. Was a teamster after war. Died in Medina, Michigan in 1926.Evergreen Cemetery Ransom, Michigan. Farmer by trade.
