Mabel Louise Cottrell (nee Ploeger), 85, of Sterling Heights, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at St. John Macomb Hospital, Warren. She was born Oct. 5, 1915, in Detroit.
Mrs. Cottrell was a homemaker. She attended St. Peter Lutheran School, Eastpointe, and loved crocheting, knitting, cooking and baking.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Dallas) Yates; son, William John Jr. (Ellen); sister, Minnie Puffpaff; brother, Arthur Ploeger; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William Cottrell Sr., in 1974; and parents, John and Elizabeth Ploeger.
A funeral service will be held at noon Friday at Clyne and Sobocinski Funeral Home, 22121 Kelly Road, Eastpointe, with the Rev. William H. Otten officiating. Burial will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East, Clinton Township.
Visitation is 2-9 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-noon Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charity.
