Flint Genealogical Society Meeting
The Flint Genealogical Society will be meeting May 3, 2011, 7 p.m. at the Burton Senior Citizens Center, 3410 S Grand Traverse, Burton, MI, between Hemphill and Bristol Roads in the same building as the library.
Cecile Wendt Jensen, a Certified Genealogist and owner of Michigan Polonia, will be the guest speaker.The Michigan Polonia is a website dedicated to assisting researchers looking for their Michigan and Polish heritage.She is a graduate of Michigan State University and has 30 years in public education.She has introduced multimedia technology into the classroom and has had articles printed in several publications, as well as published five books.Her books include Internet Lesson Plans (1994); Detroit's Polonia (2006); Detroit's Mount Elliott Cemetery (2006); Detroit's Mount Olivet Cemetery (2006); and Sto Lat: A Modern Guide to Polish Genealogy (2010).
Her topic at the meeting will be "Using the Internet for Genealogy: Sites, Tools and Netiquette"; learning about websites and databases that will aid the researcher.
