February Flint Genealogical Society meets
Mr. Guenter Loepertz will be the speaker for the February 7th meeting of the Flint Genealogical Society.He was born in Germany, immigrating to the Rochester, NY area in 1951, residing in MI since 1966.He became interested in genealogy in the late 1970's and began "chasing dead people" seriously about 1995.He will be talking about aunts and uncles who moved from Perry, Wyoming county, NY area to MI, principally to Flint, Elba, Atlas and Goodrich areas during the 1850's.Ancestor names of his wife's family include Dewitt, Bush, Sanford, Bull, Hoyt, Leddick, McIntyre, and Homan.
The Flint Genealogical Society meets the first Tuesday of the month at the Burton Senior Citizens Center, 3410 S Grand Traverse, Burton, just north of Bristol Road and I-475 and behind Holy Redeemer Church at 7 p.m.The meeting is always free and open to everyone interested.The Society is not geared just for Flint as the members represent Genesee County, Shiawassee County, Lapeer County and points all around the area.
