Thank you for your reply - you have been very helpful in providing clues, such as Monroe, NY. I remember seeing Jesse Decker in the census records of Damascus, Wayne Co., PA, along with Elijah B. Clark and Asa Owen in 1830, just prior to their removal to Oakland Co., MI.
That your Jesse married a Polly Unknown is interesting, because Asa Owen had a sister named Polly, who has remained elusive in our search for more information on her. It is possible Jesse's mother, Christine, was an Owen, too. The reason I keep returning to the idea of an intermarriage, is that Elijah B. Clark and Asa Owen had a long family connection, going all the way back to CT; long before the families' removal to NY, PA and MI. These families all tended to stay together...
Thanks again for your help in our ongoing search for our "Unknown Owen killed by Indians" - I now have a town name in NY, at least, which may shed more light on him for us. I don't think that Monroe has come into our search yet. So thank you, and I will keep looking for something more on your Polly and Christine Decker's maiden names.
There is also another will which lists the same Deckers as you have mentioned, though you may have already seen it. In this will, Samuel Knapp was married to our Abigail Owen, and were the grandparents of Jesse Decker and his brothers. See the paragraph beginning with, "Fifthly." Here is the link:
