My ggg grandfather Jacob M. Taylor, Sr enumerated at Tyre, Seneca CO, NY in the 1830 census next to a Benjamin Taylor.
Jacob M. Taylor, Srwas enumerated at Bloomfield Twp., Oakland CO, MI in the 1840 census.(J M Taylor)
Liber books at Oakland CO Courthouse note that Jacob M. Taylor, Sr. purchased land in NE 1/4 Section 6 of Southfield Twp., Oakland CO, MI 10 AUG 1840 from Peter & Amy Van Every. (This land was originally part of the Stoughton-Bullock Settlement which became present day Franklin Twp.) Jacob M. Taylor, Sr. was working at Lapeer CO, MI and moved there. He and wife Margaret Ann (Swarthout) Taylor sold their land at Southfield to George W. Green 23 FEB 1846. In 1840 there were these Taylors listed at Bloomfield Twp., Oakland CO, MI: Page 81: J.M. Taylor (Jacob M. Taylor, Sr. & Margaret) Page 79: Isaac S. Taylor Page 80: H.W. Taylor Page 83 James H. Taylor At Lyon Twp., Oakland CO, MI 1840 Benjamin Taylor
Interesting that my gg grandfather son of Jacob M. & Margaret (Swarthout) Taylor, Sr.was named James Henry Taylor and there was a James H. Taylor at same town in 1840 as Jacob & Margaret.
Also that there was a Benjamin Taylor next to Jacob M. & Margaret (Swarthout) Taylor, Sr. in the 1830 census at Tyre Seneca CO, NY old enough to have been Jacob's father or uncle and then think he went to Phelps, Ontario Co, NY by 1840. But the Benjamin Taylor at Bloomfield in 1840 census was young enough to have been a son of the Benjamin Taylor at Tyre in 1830. All of the Taylors in the 1840 census at Bloomfield Twp at ages where they could have been brothers.
Note that on the other side of Jacob M. & Margaret (Swarthout) Taylor, Sr. in the 1830 census at Tyre Seneca CO, NY was Aaron Swarthout, the father of Margaret Ann (Swarthout) Taylor, so it is possible that Benjamin Taylor was Jacobs father, or possibly uncle?
These Taylors may be related to Jacob M. Taylor, Sr.
There was another group of Taylors at Oakland CO, MI that arrived in 1820's to 1830's and they seem to be a different line. They being the line of Lemuel Taylor with Orestes, Elijah, Daniel B., Elisha & Joshua B. and they were related to the Millerd family.
