Still looking for Daniel Hitchcock, b: Dec 1827/28 in NY. Reported to be last heard from while living in Wood, Osceola Cty. MI at the age of 101 years. I found him on the 1920 Census in Albert, Montmorency Cty.; he was 95 at that time, so the age of 101, would put the year at about 1926.
I've just spent the last 4 hours looking for Wood, with no results. I've tried every township listed in Osceola, but found no mention of Wood, or a town that had been named Wood during an earlier time. I've been on several of the websites posted for the county, plus several different sites.
Does anyone have an old atlas for the 1920's that might show this township, in this county? The info came from a letter from Andrew B Hitchcock, of PA; son of Enoch Hitchcock, who was a son of Julius Hitchcock, of Moreland NY. We believe that this is also, Daniel's Father; so that would make Andrew, Daniel's nephew. Also, we know that Daniel was over 100 years old when he died. We just can't find out when that happened.
Any help will be deeply appreciated, and I would be glad to exchange any info we do have.
