Not sure if you have found an answer to your question regarding the parents of Gezina. Her last name is "Noordhuis" in the Dutch spelling (spelled "Nothouse, Northouse, Noorthuis in America). She was born in October of 1859 in Grand Haven, Ottawa County, Michigan to Harm Noordhuis and Luuktje (also Luiktje) Luikens. They were called Hiram/Herman and Lucy after they immigrated. Harm and Luuktje were married on 25 March 1854 in the municipality of Ulrum, province of Groningen, the Netherlands. They immigrated the same year, settling in Grand Haven, MI.
Harm was born 3 November 1827 in Vierhuizen, gemeente (municipality) of Ulrum, province of Groningen, the Netherlands. He was the son of Eisse Bottes Noordhuis and Antje Kornelis Pot. Harm died in Grand Haven, MI on 2 July 1899.
Luuktje was born 6 November 1832, also in Vierhuizen. She was the daughter of Rijpke Mennes Luikens (sometimes also spelled "Lukens") and Geeske Abels van der Kapellen. She died 14 June 1914 in Grand Haven, MI.
The father and mother of Luuktje also immigrated in 1854 to Grand Haven, MI. Rijpke, the father, was living with Harm and Luuktje per the 1860 and 1870 census. He died 14 July 1876 in Grand Haven, MI.
In the 1870 census for Grand Haven, MI., Gezina is clearly listed as 10 years old and the daughter of Harm and Lucy. So, she could have not been born in 1847 and, of course, Harm and Luuktje were not married until 1854 in the Netherlands and had no children when they immigrated. In the 1900 census, Gezina was listed with her husband James and her birth is listed as "October of 1858" in Michigan.
James Brouwer was born Jacobus Apolonius Brouwer on 20 February 1854 in the Netherlands, son of Willem Brouwer and Gertruida de Waal.
