I cannot find a written record yet.Give me time to check the History of The Catholic church in Detroit by Pare.I have to go to the Library to reread it.There is also information in the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church book by the church secretary.I donated my copy to the Irish Genealogy Society of Michigan and I cannot check it until November 18th when their Library is open before the monthly meeting.
What I remember is that the fire was in Grand Rapids, when Fr.Kilroy was there between Dec 28 1847 and his transfer to St. Clair county in 1850.
However while I was searching on Google, I found a postingby Leo McFarland on November22, 2003He says Fr. Kilroy had a sister Mary who married Ed Lyons. They had a daughter Bridget Lyons who is listed in the 1860 Census, St. Clair county/Port Huron.she is said to reside in the rectory and to be his housekeeper.
Same posting says Fr. Kilroy's mother's name wasBridget Kilroy and she is listed in the Census of Sandwich, Essex county Ontario. I don't think he gives the year of the census.
I will contact you again if I have more reliable information. The Port Huron obituary says he was from Kings county in Ireland.Kings county is now called Offely Perhaps you can find information in Ireland. I believe Irish websites end in ie.When I have an exact website I'll get back to you
