I am looking for information on David Markle/Mericle (b: 22 Jan 1834, Canada d: 11 Jun 1913, Kenockee, MI).He married Rachel Vincent or Vinson (1837-1920) in Ancaster, Wentworth, Ontario on 28 Oct 1855. His descendants favored the spelling Merickle. I am especially interested in the name of his father. I have the following biographical sketch from the History of St. Clair County, Michigan:
"DAVID MIRACLE[sic], farmer, Section 15, P. O. Kenockee, is a native of Canada, and was born January 22, 1834. After reaching manhood he came to this country and began working in the lumber woods at $10 a month; two years later he bought the land where he now lives; it was all woods: he built a shanty and began clearing his land; there were no roads; and he could scarcely get here with a yoke of oxen. He worked in the lumber woods for many years; then engaged in lumbering for himself, and for the past eight years has been associated with Dell Brown in the business. He owns 300 acres of land, his farm is well located and has excellent improvements. When he left Canada he only had 100 pounds, and his success is the result of his own efforts. In 1856. he married Miss Rachel Benson [sic], a native of Canada. They have four children—Morris, Reid, Jane and Charlotte. " Thank you.
