The reason I felt the 1900 census had the wrong date for Napolean's birth is that he is listed as being age 2 in the 1860 census, which would make his birth year about 1858.If he was born in 1861 he couldn't have been listed in 1860.UNLESS the Napolean who was born in 1858 died and another child, born in 1861 was also named Napolean.
I also looked for LeBeck families in MIchigan in the 1900 census that could be related to Bertha.I only found one that listed both parents as originally from Germany but the census said they had been married for less than 30 years and Bertha states in 1900 that she was born in 1870 so unless the census is wrong they couldn't be her parents. There were several LeBeck families in Wayne County, none in St. Joseph.
Have you tried getting their marriage record and/or her death certificate? If you do know her death date, perhaps and obituary would help - the following website might be useful to you:
