Actually I do know where my Gleason line came from. They came from Nenagh, County Tipperary, Ireland. They removed from Ireland about 1839...and settled directly in "Gore of Downie" (a township), just outside of the City of Stratford, County Perth, Ontario Canada.I believe the Monaghan's also came from this area in Canada before settling into Michigan.
In Stratford, at the Stratford-Perth Archives, they have a great holdings, that is open to the public to research within, this is where we found alot of information on my immigrant ancestor Cornelius Gleason Sr. and wife Bridget Mullens.
I haven't researched the Monaghan's per se...my Aunt Marie (Monaghan) Gleason was the d/o of John, who first married Kate Conroy and 2nd Margaret W.Marie was the child of John's 2nd wife.
Aunt Marie just died a couple of months back...but her most of her children live in Yale and Memphis, MI areas.Wm Gleason aka "Bill/Billy" so he may know more information about the Monaghan family and he lives on the Yale-Peck Rd - M19, considered apart of Yale, MI.I don't have his phone number, but do believe his number can be accessed at: www.whitepages.com.If you do contact him, let him know his cousin "Mitzi" sent you his way :)
There is a book, we purchased it at Sacred Heart Church in Yale, MI..it is the Diary of Rev P. J. Cullinane...and in this book is a funny story about Terrance, the elder who came to Sanilac County. And many other related stories.
