Hi, Mary,
There are no known Roberts in our family. And I have never seen a spelling of McCleod: it has been Mc or Mac Leod, with Leod being an early Scottish/Norse ancestor.
I don't see anything for Sarah MacLeod. MacLeod was shortened to McLeod at some point. It is common to have Mac and Mc used interchangably in one family, which makes it confusing. We do have a Sarah Cripps, who married William MacGregor. However, there are 3 Mary McLeod listings in our family history that I found.
The McLeod's came over from Ontario, and settled in a dwelling on the MacGregor farm north of Deckerville (south of Deckerville are different McGregors). My paternal great grandparents were John MacGregor (son of Sarah and William) and Mary McLeod (d. 1969)(early 1900's; my grandmother, Marion, was born in 1919). Mary had 12 siblings. Mary's parents were Angus McLeod and Emmaline Waun. Angus had a sister, Mary McLeod, who married a Loomis. Angus, Mary, and brother John's parents were Donald McLeod and Mary McClellan. The later generation of McLeods were spread out from Deckerville to Detroit.
I hope this is of some help.
Best regards,
Geo.
