John Edward “Haywire Jack” O’Connell was born 1875 in Marinette, Wisconsin, died in 1942 in Deer River, Minnesota.
He worked as a logger in Minnesota, was famous for winning log-rolling contests (Maybe that’s where the nickname came from). He married Louise Lalonde from Michigan, who had a brother Clarence and a sister Maude. John O’Connell’s son was Chicago restaurateur Daniel J. O’Connell, my father, who died in Chicago in 1971.My sister Ann and I are working on our family tree. My father’s branch is nearly a complete mystery.
We would appreciate any information you could give us.Thanks
