I am looking for information regarding the following soldiers of Company E of the 4th Missouri Cavalry, CSA. These men are listed as having deserted their unit on 10 July 1863. Most were recruited in Howell County, Missouri, on 10 October 1862, but they were not necessarily from Howell County. At least one is from Pulaski County, Missouri.I specifically am interested in where they were from and what happened to them after 10 July 1863.

Pvt. James Farley was captured 10 Aug 1863 in Phelps County, Missouri.Pvt. Pleasant Smelcer never returned home; family legend says he was killed by bushwhackers, his body laid over a tree stump, his horse stolen.I have no information on the other men.
