Josiah A. Risdon was born at Huron, Ohio, May 11, 1834, and died at the home of his son, Ira. A. Risdon, of Handy, Sunday, March 5, 1911.
He was left an orphan when two years old.Five years later he was brought to Michigan by relatives and settled in Unadilla township.
He went to California in 1853 and there enlisted in the army in September, 1861, and after receiving an honorable discharge for three years service, returned to Michigan where he was married to Miss Julia Vaughn August 19, 1866.To this union were born seven children, five surviving, the other two having died in childhood.The wife died in November 1892.
Two years later in October, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary Moore, who died in October 1903.He was then married to Mrs. Caroline Reason March 20, 1909, who with the children, Ira of Handy, William of Remus, Mrs. Cora E. Pate of Durand, Fred S. of Iosco, Lewis of Howell, mourn the loss of a loving husband and devoted father.
