I'm hoping someone can help track down this information or push me in the right direction. I've run into a brick wall and desperately need some help. My grandparents were living somewhere near Detroit in the 1912-1914 time frame. My grandmother; Bridget (aka Blanche) gave birth to twin boys. The children both died within hours of birth. My mother, who was born 10 years later, would dearly love to know what happened and where. She's the last living child and I'm at my wit's end as to how to research this. That's why I'm asking for help from this board. Recently, a relative uncovered a note from long ago stating that "John and James Jackson died in December, 1913 - Detroit, Michigan". The rest of the family lived near Cumberland, Md. The event could have been anywhere in the vicinity as I'm sure they might have simply listed the nearest large city. James, the father, was a semi-pro baseball player at the time. Supposedly, he was in the Detroit Tigers farm system, but that's never been established. I've contacted the Michigan Dept. of Vital Records in an attempt to obtain death certificates, but they were unable to find anything. If this event didn’t occur in Wayne County, I'm wondering if the deaths occurred in a neighboring county? Is there another source for vital records that I'm unaware of? Anyway, I now find myself grasping at straws. Can anyone help with my dilemma?
