I'm hoping to touch base with other individuals who have a connection to a photograph of the Partello Band. Partello was a small community located just south-east of Olivet, Michigan, and just over the Eaton County line into Calhoun County. Many of the band's members are from the Olivet area. The photograph, circa 1901, is included in an article written by Frank Passic, Albion Historian, and can be viewed at:
Our family was fortunate to have all of the band members identified on the back side, and the list of names is included in the article. (Thank you Frank!)
There are few of these original photographs in existence, and ours was passed down through the Sheldon family. My g-grandfather, Frank M. Sheldon, stands second from the left in the back row with a clarinet. His son-in-law Gordon "Pete" Raymond is standing at the very left with the bass drum. Although our original is now permanently mounted in archival quality work, the photograph was copied with professional color film using a 2-1/4" square format camera, and the copied image is very sharp and maintains the original "tone" of the photograph.
Our ancestors are connected with other names in the photograph, as Addie Johnson was Frank's second wife, (and 1st cousin!!). Addie's mother was Emelia (Crandall) Johnson, and Frank's mother was Adeline (Crandall) Sheldon. Addie's sister Inez married an Orlo Butterfield. Many of these people are at rest in the Bosworth Cemetery, Walton TWP, Eaton County.
For more information, you can search "Partello" on this forum and other people have made notes. Unfortunately, email addresses change sometimes, and so I am not able to contact some of these people.
Please post a follow-up message if you are connected, or email me directly!
