I don't believe this is MY Frank John Zavoral. He came from Bohemia (which he sometimes referred to as Austria because Austria "owned" it until 1920) in either 1910 or 1911 according to his own documentation... census records, etc. Be aware that there was living in Chicago in 1920 TWO Frank Zavorals.... one was born in 1877 and he was married to a Frances (Fannie) and had 5 children: Fannie, Mary, John, Sofie, and Stella. He lived in La Salle, which is just west of downtown Chicago. At the same time, my Grandfather was living NW Chicago with his new wife Rose Marie Svoboda and HER 6 yr old daughter Emily Smejkal (shown on the census as Emily Zavoral... and even on her death record, but I don't know if Frank Zavoral ever "legally" adopted her). Emily's from a 1st marriage to Joseph Smejkal. Rose Marie Svoboda had buried 3 sons and her husband from this first marriage to either pneumonia, influence or TB during the 10 years prior to marrying Frank Zavoral. It may be this other Frank Zavoral who came over in 1904 from Hercogova.... that's in present day Bosnia/Herzegovina ... not Bohemia, which is currently part of the Czech Republic.... two different countries and two different religions. Bohemia is/was mostly Catholic (Moravia.. the other part of the current Czech Republic is mostly protestant). Bosnia/Herzogovena is a volatile mix of Muslim and Orthodox. Now the newspaper articles about the marriage of my Dad and Mom I would very much appreciate... and the others. I've found one on Aunt Rose Barbara Zavoral's wedding to Wm Truhn and the younger sister Martha's wedding to Vernon Beckman. Aunt Rose Barbara Zavoral Truhn died in 2007. If the Rose you are referring to is Grandmother Rose Marie Zavoral's death in 1950, I'd appreciate that... she died of a heart attack two days after some kids threw firecrackers on the roof of her back porch, causing a fire that destroyed the back part of the house. Please send whatever you have to my email addy given above.
