OBITUARY ARMINDA RUTH PATTERSON Arminda Ruth, the daughter of John and Rachael Jane McGrath, was born December 17, 1861 in Henry County, Illinois and departed this life April 27, 1950 at her home northeast of Cozad. She was united in marriage to Levi Patterson on July 15, 1877.They made their home in Illinois until 1881, and at that time they moved to Nebraska.They returned to Illinois for two years, but came back to Nebraska in 1887, and from that time on they remained in or around Cozad. To this union were born nine children.Her husband, Levi Patterson, one son, John and a daughter, Marguerite; besides one sister Rebecca, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her departure her children, Rebecca Shroy, of Aberdeen, Wisconsin; Nora Neuens, of Salem, Oregon; Hayden Patterson of Powell, Wyoming; Dan and Roy of Cozad; May McCarter of Gothenburg; and David of Lexington.One brother, Arthur McGrath of Aurora, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. "Grandma" Patterson, as she was familiarily known to all, was one of the early settlers that endured the hardships and trials of the early days.She united with the Grace Methodist Church in the early '90's where she was a faithful worker.Later she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church in Cozad.She read her bible daily and sang many of her favorite hymns for her own enjoyment.She will be sadly missed by one and all, but we know she will have peace and rest in her heavenly home. Services were held at the Davis Funeral Home Monday, May 1st with Rev. A. J. Edgar officiating.Royal Vasey, Guy Dunning, Don Maline and Bill Thompson, accompanied by Doris Barta, furnished the music. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Ralph Emery, Glen McCarter, W. H. Neuens, Harold Neuens, Harley Patterson, and Vernal Patterson.
