My name is Linda Hannan Radcliff and I too am search for the elusive Hannan/Hannon family. My Grandfathers name was Frank Hannan/Hannon/ Hanan/ Hanum (not really sure how he spelled it)have found the name spelled all of these different ways.
I am searching for the parents of Frank Hannon.According to his death Cert.he was believed born 4 April 1880 in St. Louis, MO.Parents Unknown! (no help there)Family lore has it that he was orphaned at a very early age and was either living with relatives or sent to work the farms in Kansas.I have located a Frank Hannon in the St. Louis Census records, but he was born about 1876 and living with grandfather Thomas Bain.(don't know if this is the one I am looking for or not)
Frank (or it could have been Francis ?) married Sarah Kuhn in about 1900 in Ellis County, Kansas and they had 12 children: Clarence b. 1900 - 1901 Kansas Frank b. abt. 1902Wyoming Joseph b. 1904 Ellis Co. Kansas Roy b. 1907 Ellis Co. Kansas Robert Henry b. 1909 Ellis Co. Kansas Francis b. 1910 - 1911 Kansas Thomas Eugene b. 1912 Ellis Co., Kansas Madge b. 1913 Ellis Co. Kansas Dorothy b. 1917 Hutchinson Reno Co., Kansas Kenneth Dale b. 1919 Hutchinson Reno Co, Kansas Ona Fern b. 1921 Hutchinson Reno Co., Kansas Ole LaVerne b. 1921 Hutchinson Reno Co., Kansas
I have been told that Frank's Father was of Irish descent and came to the States through Canada. There is one distintion that would be useful as a link.Frank Hannan had an inheritable desease, known as Huntington's Chorea. This was not discovered until about 1928, after the desease had already progressed.I am assuming that one of his parents had this also and that is why he was orphaned.
The family settled in Council Bluffs, Iowa and some moved across the river to Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska.Would like to contact any "Cousins" still in the areas. My Email address is Redcliff@2xtreme.net
