FORMER QUINCY WOMAN BURIED AT AUGUSTA
Mrs. Mary Elled Shuman Was Laid To Rest From Home of Her Sister, Wednesday.
AUGUSTA,Ill., Jan. 8 --
The funeral of the late Mrs. Mary Elled Shuman was held in this place yesterday afternoon. The services were held from the home of her sister, Mrs. David Stewart, where she died, Monday, January 5. The last rites were largely attended and were officiated over by Rev. Smith, of this place.
Mrs. Shuman, aged 70 years, was born in the southern part of the state on October 11, 1843. When 12 years old she moved to Hancock county with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Hutchison, and settled near Chili. She was first married to Charles Sweet when eighteen years of age. To this union two sons, twins, were born. One died in infancy. The other son, Samuel Sweet, of Quincy, survives. Other survivors are four grandchildren and three great grandchildren two brothers and three sisters. The brothers are Burton H. Hutchison, of Omaha, Neb.; Louis H. Hutchison, address unknown; Mrs. Sarah Humphrey, Mrs. David Stewart, of Augusta, and Mrs. Margaret Chapman, of 2017 Oak street, Quincy.
