Am seeking information concerning my paternal great grand parents.
Name: George MARFICA -- immigrated with his second wife, Eva (Ewa) (RODAK possibly) in about 1885 from Europe.
George had three children by his first wife (Kate DWORAK??). The children were Anna, Charles, and Mary Antonia). These girls married Mielak brothers in Columbus.George and Eva had two more children (Julia and Mary) before immigrating. After arriving in America (port of entry and date unknown), they settled in Columbus (Platte County), Nebraska.
Three more children (Frank, Rose, and John), including my grandfather (John)were born in Platte County. In varying sources their homeland was listed as Austria, Austro-Hungarian Empire, Poland, Polish regions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
George MARFICA died shortly after my grandfather (John MARFICE) was born in Dec 1892, although I do not know when or where. I have read all the transcriptions of cemeteries in Platte County and found no mention of him; I'm not sure even where they lived or what George did for a living. Eva remarried a man named Charles CHIOCHON in about 1896. They then moved to Holt County, near Ewing and had 4 or 5 more children. I located them in the 1900 census for Holt County, Deloit Township, but none of Eva’s children by George are listed. By 1900, the older girls (Julia MARFICA and Mary MARFICA) were living/working in Columbus and can be found on 1900 census records, one living with her sister, Anna Marfica MIELIK (MIELAK), and the other working in a hotel owned by a Mr. SCOTT. The three younger children were not listed on the census.
In the early 1900’s Eva left Charles and moved to Omaha, living with her daughter, Mary, who married John STANEK. Eva lived there until her death in November of 1936.
Am interested in any information, especially concerning where they immigrated from and where/when George died and where he might be buried.
