The close Ringo-Saunders family connection started in Fleming County, Ky where both families were in the grist milling business in the early to mid 1800's. Many Ringo and Saunders family member are buried at the Ringo-Saunders family cemetary 3 miles north of Sherburne, Fleming Co, Ky. The Saunders Family Bible reflects Matilda Covington Saunders, b. 3-1-1835, dau of Austin R. Saunders married on 9-10-1850 to Joseph P. Ringo, b. 1-24-1824. There were several other Saunder-Ringo marriages in the area. The Saunders family operated a grist mill known as Saunders-Day Mill on the Licking River near Grange City, Fleming Co, Ky. The Ringo family operated a grist mill known as Ringo's Mills, Fleming Co, Ky. Both families owned and operated farms in the Fleming County area.In the 1981 I discovered the town of Ringoes, New Jersey and bought a house on John Ringo Road. Soon after, members of the Saunders family opened a restarant called the Saunders Inn a few blocks away from my home.
