Most of my family stayed in New York so most of my research is there but I may have found a missing great aunt on the 1905 New Jersey census.Long story short there were some alligations of child abuse, my great aunt, Ida Esterby was placed in the Society for the prevention of cruelty to children in NY. I've contacted them but they have no records on her, this incident happened in 1903.I found a girl with her name and age living with a family by the name of Joseph Owen in Warren county, NJ.I ordered the microfilm of the census so I can find out if it is indeed her. Joseph Owen was a methodist minister originally from NY and Im wondering if he took her into his home to live. I cant find Ida on any census past 1905 so Im assuming she may have married. She was born in NY in july 1889.
After I look at the microfilm, if it is my aunt Ida, I think my next step is to find a marriage record...does anyone know of any helpful websites specifically for New Jersey research?Im trying to find something simular to the IGG in NY where I might find a marriage certificate number.Im searching for records from 1905 and later.Thanks.
