Seek Alfred SEYMOUR's first wife's maiden name, Phoebe E. or Phebe E.
b. in 1832 New York; they had a son, Julian D. b. 1854.

Alfred SEYMOUR COOK was born 1832 in Oneida Co., NY. He died April 8, 1889 in Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY.
Alfred SEYMOUR, CIVIL WAR vet. [I have his military data], was born 8 Dec. 1832 in Waterville, Oneida, NY; he was later called Alfred Seymour COOK. He married Phoebe E. or Phebe E. and later married Erma, Emma or Emmeretta MARKHAM 1846-1918 [whom I'm researching].
PLACES where they supposedly lived:
1) Brownville, Jefferson Co., NY, sometime around 1865-70;
2) moved to Chicago, IL, living there from 1872-1877 per Chicago, Illinois, city directories.
3) August 1878 in Lake Forest, Lake Co., IL [Illinois], and
4) by Jan. 1881 in Sandusky, OHIO [OH].
5) Herkimer or Mohawk, Herkimer Co., NY.
6) From 1886 to 1889 they were living in Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY where Alfred Seymour COOK is buried in the Village of Geddes [annexed to Syracuse, Onondaga Co., New York, in 1886].

Alfred Seymour Cook was born 1832 in Oneida Co., NY. He died April 8, 1889 in Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY.
1850 census: couldn't locate him
1855 NY State Census: Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY (see your message with census data)
1860 census: couldn't locate him
1861-63 (somewhere in that Civil War time frame); enlisted Jan 4, 1862 in U.S. Infantry, Co. B., 2nd Battallion, 12th Regt., served in New York Harbor; discharged Aug, 18, 1862; he gave his name as "Alfred Seymour" (not Alfred Seymour Cook). Makes me wonder if he used the name "Alfred Seymour" at any other time in his life--maybe that's why I can't find him.
1864 - married Emmeretta E. or D. Markham on 8 May 1864 in Yates Center, Orleans Co., New York
1865 NY State Census, Ridgeway, Orleans Co., NY Cook, A.S. age 33, born Oneida Co., NY (No occupation listed) Cook, Emmerett, age 21, born Erie Co., NY
Cook, Florence, age 3 mos., daughter (supposedly she died in
1870 census Winnebago Co., IL, Rockford, Ward 2 Cook,
Alfred, , age 36 (born 1834) born NY, patternmaker

Cook, Bertha, age 5 (born 1865), born NY--or is this
Cook, Della, age 3 (born 1867), born IL - I believe this is Blanche D.
Smith, Mary, age 50 (born 1820), born NY, dressmaker (don't know relationship)
1870 - son Harry L., born (August 20, 1870) in Illinois
1872-1877 living in Chicago, IL (information from Chicago City Directories). Alfred's occupation listed as sashmaker, carpenter, foreman, woodwork contractor.
1877 - son George Frankland or Franklin born June 29, 1877 in Chicago, IL
1878 - supposedly living in Lake Forest, Lake Co., IL; have not found any record of this.
1880 - could not locate family
1881 - daughter Rita Emmeretta Lillian born 17 January 1881, either in IL or Sandusky, Erie Co., OH (census reports show IL or Ohio for her birth).
1882-1885 could not locate family
1886-1889 living in Syracuse, Onondaga Co., NY, where Alfred died April 8, 1889.
After 1889 - Emma lived in Syracuse for a while before returning to Chicago, IL.
1900 See your message with census data.
1904 Emma married Lyman T. Clark.
1910 See your message with census data.
1913 Lyman T. Clark died in Chicago, IL, so Emmeretta or Emma or Erma was widowed twice. (Lyman Clark did not own a jewelry store in Blue Island, IL; he was a railroad conductor.)
