GAMBIER — Edgar “Clippy” Clipse, 77, of Gambier died March 1, 2003, at his home. Mr. Clipse was born July 8, 1925, in Jenkins, Ky., and had been a resident of Knox County since 1941. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Clipse had owned and operated Clippy’s Drive Inn and for the past 30 years had assisted his wife, Joan, in the real estate business. Surviving are his wife, Joan (Daubenspeck) Clipse; his mother, Mattie Farmer; his son, Larry; his daughter, Deborah Miller; two grandsons, Sam (Carol) Miller and Matt (Jennifer) Miller; and two great-grandchildren, Erica Nicole Miller and Ryan Robert Miller. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry; his brother, Charles Clipse; and his stepfather, Russell Farmer. Funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday one hour before the funeral.
