LOUISE JANE GOODNEW, wife of MANDREW HOLLAND, was born October l5, l839, at Westminister, Allen County, Ohio and died at her home in Garden Grove, Iowa, December l6, l924, aged 85 years, 2 months and one day.
She was married to MANDREW HOLLAND in l860, who preceded her in death April l9, l924. To this union were born nine children, five girls and four boys, SILAS, of Garden Grove, Iowa; and BERT, of Youngstown, Ohio. GEORGE and MANDREW died in youth. CLARA STANFORD, of Leon, Iowa; NETTIE RHODES, of Huron, South Dakota; SARA PARSONS, of Leon, Iowa; MAUD BUCHANAN, of Huron, South Dakota; OLLIE KNAPP, of Waterloo, Iowa. MR. and MRS. HOLLAND came to Decatur County in l885 and settled in Garden Grove in l894.
MRS. HOLLAND united with the M.E. Church at the age of l8 and held her membership in that church until her death. She was a fine Christian woman and a dutiful wife and loving mother, and died in the faith which is an anchor of the soul, sure and steadfast. She was a kind neighbor and her hand was always open to the needy and she will be greatly missed in the community.
The funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Rev. Huffman, interment being in the Garden Grove Cemetery.
*Note: In her husband's obituary, she is LOUISA GOODNO. In her obituary, she is LOUISE JANE GOODNEW. I don't know which is correct.
