I have been trying to identify early Mormons of Andover, Ashtabula, Ohio -- which was the location of one of about 20 pre-1838 Mormon congregations in Ohio.
Gamaliel Grover is listed in January 1841 as an agent for the Times and Seasons (a Mormon newspaper of Nauvoo, Illinois) and his location is given as Andover, Ashtabula, O. [?Vol. 2. No. 18. Nauvoo, Illinois, July 15, 1841,p.485.] Of course, you are probably aware that he appears in the 1840 U.S. Census in Richmond:
I find a very little information on Gamaliel Grover at familysearch.org, mostly that he was born about 1794, that his father was Joseph Grover and his mother was Elizabeth Reynolds, and he was from Springfield, Bradford, Pennsylvania.
A search on the phrase, , using Google brings up a list that includes early Mormons from Springfield, but Gamaliel Grover is not on the list -- the absence is not significant; it merely shows a variety of people, some from Springfield joining with the Mormons. A family of Leonards, Mormons also from Springfield, lived near Andover.
I was wondering whether you had any biographical information that you would be willing to share with me?
