Paul Eugene Phillips A resident of Baton Rouge and a retired chemical engineer with Uniroyal/U.S. Steel and B.F. Goodrich, he passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Capital House Nursing Home. He was 77 and a native of Whipple, W.Va. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Saturday, March 15, from noon until graveside services at 1 p.m. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosella Werbeach Phillips; daughter, Gail Holbrook, Baton Rouge; son, David Phillips, Baton Rouge; two sisters, Darlene Ead, Tennessee, and Ruth Smith, Maryland; brother, Daniel Phillips, Florida; and three grandchildren, Paul Holbrook, and Jeremy and Joseph Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Vinnie Phillips; and a granddaughter, Sarah Holbrook. He was a member of the Masons and Shriners. He loved to travel, research genealogy, and play chess. He was fluent in Spanish and was able to read and translate the Mayan hieroglyphics. Published in The Advocate on 3/15/2008.
