"CAPT. ANDERSON IRION was born in Fleming County, Kentucky, February 7, 1807, and was one of ten children of ROBERT and NANCY IRION, of whom JOHN, FRANCES, ANDERSON, HENSON, NANCY and MILTON survive. The father of ANDERSON was a native of Virginia, chiefly a farmer, and died in Fayette County, Ohio. When the CAPTAIN was very young, he removed with his parents to Brown County, Ohio, and thence to Fayette County, Ohio, whence, in 1853, he removed to West Point Township, White County, Indiana, and has lived in his present location since 1873. During the Mexican war, he organized a company, which however, was not needed, and hence his title of CAPTAIN. On January 7, 1833, he was married to SOPHIA DRAGOO, by whom he had ten children - DANIEL, SUSAN, PENELOPE, NANCY, HENRY, SARAH, ROBERT, OLIVER, MARY and THOMAS; of these, NANCY, HENRY and THOMAS are deceased. MR. IRION resides seven miles southeast of Wolcott, on 120 acres (forty of timber, being one mile north). His farm is attractive and fertile, producing corn, oats and wheat. MR. IRION has been County Commissioner, serving with honor to himself and satisfaction to his county. He is an old settler of the township and a member of the Masonic fraternity."
