Looking for information on my THOMAS Line and BETTIS Line.
So I am hoping someone researching THOMAS' and/or BETTIS, may be looking for a long lost relative that sounds like one of mine!
1. JAMES MICHAEL THOMAS was born 1829 in Hamilton County, Ohio, married ELIZABETH BETTIS, Died in Miamiville, Clermont County, Ohio. (Census' always show OHIO as "his parents" birth place). James served Crawford County Indiana during the Civil War. 23rd Regiment, H Company. Mustered in at Albany Indiana.
What is his Indiana Connection.Family there as well, maybe????
His son - 2. MICHAEL JAMES THOMAS was born 1877 in Northern Kentucky, married Bessie Barber.
It seems most of their time was spent in Northern Kentucky, Hamilton County Ohio & Clermont County, Ohio. They could usually be found living in area up and down the Ohio River.
My grandaunt (Daisy Thomas) daughter of Michael & Bessie, whom was born April 1900, always said we were related to Daniel Boone.
Well, I have no idea if that is true or not. However many of the other family stories have all panned out, so this may do so as well. There is also mention of there being an Indian Doctor in the family - which I believe was on this THOMAS side.
Does any of this by chance have a ring of familarity to anyone?
I just can't seem to get any further or differentiate from one Ohio James & Michael Thomas from another, (there are quite a few)!
There are also quite a few William Bettis' as well!My Bettis info is below.
William Bettis born about 1799 in Pennsylvania. At some point moved to Ohio, and may have ended up in Clermont County. (There is a William there during the time period from Pennsylvania). Two known children:William born about 1835 in Ohio & Elizabeth/Elisabeth 1847 in Ohio.
William Married Mary Steelman of Clermont County and Elizabeth married James Michael Thomas (Noted above in THOMAS info).
