I am seeking information regarding the name of a Ellen who was the person whom this antique quilt was dedicated. The names on the quilt included: WP Boyd, Parmelia last name illegible, ML Thornton, Mrs. Sallie Light, Miss Harriet Salt, Louisa Iden, Miss Sarah Mefford, Christiana Clarke, Miss Laura A. McCall, Miss Nancy Boyd, Miss Missouri Griffith, Miss Charlotte Quinlan, Miss Laura Mefford, Miss Mary K. Weagman, Miss May or Mary Day, Mrs. Olley last name illegible, Miss Mollie E. Griffith, Miss Anna E. Boyd, L. M. Headly, Miss Ollie McCall, Miss Harriett McCall, Mrs. Adelia Thornton, Miss Mary Lockwood, E. Thornton, Emma E. Hammond, H. G. Hammond, N. A. Hitch, J. F. Hitch, E. M. Headly, Mary E. Earhart, Miss Mary or May Justice, Minerva Salt, Miss E. M. Town or Tower, Miss Lizzie Hammond, Mrs. Harriett Ross, Julia Iden, Mrs. Helen R. Burk, Rebecca Thornton, Mrs. R. Thornton, and Elizabeth Light.
The signatures included placenames including: Bethel, Clover, Williamsburg, Ohio, Clermont County,Ohio and Philadelphia Pennsylvania.
From the personal comments made on the quilt, it would appear that Ellen was leaving Clermont County in September 1854 (remember me, etc.)
Any help in clarifying who Ellen might have been would be great appreciated.
The quilt was purchased in about 1970 in an antique shop in Santa Barbara California.
