Hi, I noted several who have said they didnt know where to begin with searching in Clinton County. May I suggest you plan to visit our newly remodeled library in the Historical Society on the corner of Rombach Avenue and Lincoln. We are located on the second floor (we do have an elevator) We continue to add books, records, clippings, photos and much more to the collections. The only problem is we have limited hours, so please plan to work around this. If you simply cannot make it in our regular hours we can arrange for appt. and a volunteer will be there to help you. There is parking in back of the building so you are now able to park off street. You enter on the Linclon street side of the building.
Hours: 1 to 4 on Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat. Closed Jan and Feb Days that fall close to a holiday sometimes are also closed so please call or write ahead of time.
Also allow time to visit our newly remodeled Public Library They are adding things for family research also. One of the best things they have is the microfilm of old newspapers. There are many great resource books and aids to help you on their website. I will have to look up that URL as I dont have it in last Genealogy newsletter. I will post it later.
Other libraries with large collections in our area, but not right in Clinton county are Washington Courthouse and Xenia Public Libraries. Dont miss out on a trip to each of them. And dont discount your localized small town libraries about our Clinton county. I would certainly visit all of them, in the township area your families lived in. For instance, Blanchester, Sabina, have great little libraries one might overlook.
Hope this will be of help to anyone coming here to research.
