Hello Sue Ellen, I was pleased to see a post from you. I had misplaced the email address I had gotten from you at the prospective DAR member luncheon some months ago.
To refresh your memory -- I am Pam Whalen, DAR connection/Adam Allen, and we were discussing where to find medical terms for ailments in the 1700-1800's. I finally stumbled across a good one and my question answered. The address is -
My puzzle was a child with White Swelling that put him in a disabled catagory when Adam's pension papers were filed but the child survived, married, and lived a full life. According to the site, White Swelling was a form of Tuberculosis affecting the bone and/or joints. Mainly affecting children. Just thought you might be interested in this tid bit and another site to add to your resource list.
I have everything tied up for DAR, just need to find time to get it to Louise for a once over before submission. Pam Whalen
