I believe that Frank Skinkis,b. abt. 1903 OH, first married Marie/Maria/Mary Krause abt. 1923 which produced a child Loretta b. abt 1924 (Marie died in 1924, possibly from this childbirth).
I believe Frank Skinkis then married Elizabeth Olsavsky b. abt. 1909 New Jersey.They m. abt. 1927 OH.Elizabeth d. 1981 OH. Frank d. 1974 OH.
Child Loretta is 6 yrs old on the 1930 census with Frank and Elizabeth ..but the facts presented indicate this is child of Marie, rather than Elizabeth.
Child Loretta Skinkis m. John Schieferstein in OH and also Mr. Hancock?
Elizabeth Olsavsky's parents are Joseph & Mary Olsavsky from Slovakia. Frank Skinkis parents are Joseph & Annie/Anna (maiden unknown) Skinkis from Russia (Lithuanian). They married (OH) abt. 1893 according to census records and first child born 1894.
Frank's siblings are Joseph, Peter, John and William.Father Joseph died 1922, mother Anna is in 1930 census living with two son's.She died 1940.
BUT...... I also believe Frank's father (Joseph), first married Mary Ann Akson(as).Joseph and Mary Ann had these "known to me as fact" children: Rose Agnes Skinkis b. Jan 17 1886 MI (aka Agnes) Amelia Skinkis b. Feb 26 1889 OH (aka Minnie) and I think these others: Mary, Nellie and Margaret (read on) So these five girls would be Frank's half siblings.
Two things support my theory: 1) The 1900 census has Joseph and Anna with their first three son's, but also in h/h is a daughter named Mary, 12 yrs. old. b. Mar 1888 OH.Joseph did not marry Anna until 1893, so Anna is not Mary's mother. (a first thought would be this Mary b. Mar 1888 could be Amelia (Minnie) b. Feb 26 1889, except for the obit listed next which leads two two different girls).
2) Frank's mother's obit from the Cleveland Necrology File lists her son's as well as lists her step-children as follows: Notes: 1853 - 1922. Calvary Cemetery Cleveland, Ohio. Id#: 0332029 Name: Skinkis, Anna Date: Sep 1 1940 Source: Source unknown;Cleveland Necrology File, Reel #075. Notes: Skinkis: Anna, beloved wife of the late Joseph, mother of Joseph, Peter, John, William and Frank, stepmother of Mary, Nellie, Margaret, Agnes (Rose Agnes) and Minnie (Amelia), grandmother of Loretta and Edward Skinkis, passed away at 1:30 a. m. Aug. 31. Friends may call at Delia Jakubs' Lithuanian Funeral Home, 6621 Edna ave. Funeral services Monday, Sept. 2, at 8 a. m., St. George's Church. Burial Calvary Cemetery.
If any of this rings a bell for anyone in their family tree, I would appreciate hearing from you.
