Notes: Services for Mrs. Louis Rich, widow of widely known orchestra leader of more than 30 years here, will be at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Saxton funeral home, 13215 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood. She died Monday night in Lakewood Hospital, where she had been a patient for five weeks. She was 71. The family home is at 1375 Bunts Road, Lakewood. After the musician's death in 1943, Mrs. Rich catalogued his library of several thousand orchestrations, for distributions to Crile Veterans Hospital, to West Germany and to the Cleveland Public Library. She was active in service organizations. For about 40 years she was a member of the Auxiliary Board of Eliza Jennings Home. She long was active in the Children's Aid Society and in Lakewood PTA groups. The former Celia Tegtmeier, she was a member of an early West Side family. She is survived by a son, Louis Rich, Jr.; two daughters, Mrs. Joseph E. Woodworth and Mrs. F. J. Webster; four grandchildren and two brothers. Louis died 30 Jul 1943 in Cuyahoga Co. but his obit is not in the Cleveland Necrology File index.

If they can't help, a Shirley RICH married Joseph E. WOODWORTH about 1956 in Cuyahoga County. A man with that name, b 17 Sep 1924, d 20 Mar 2005 in Tallahassee, FL. I'm not related so I don't know if this Joseph was Shirley's husband but you may want to contact the Leon County (Tallahassee) Public Library, http://www.leoncountylibrary.org/http://www.leoncountylibrary.org/, and get a copy of his obit. Shirley or her family may have pictures of Louis' orchestra.
