Thanks for the info. There's a lot to chew on. I've searched high and low on the Ellis Island site (plus Ancestry.com) and haven't been able to match "Jensca" on any ship manifest. Makes me tend to think that he was the victim of Census misspelling. Naturalization may be the best bet; but if he was a boarder because he was very mobile he could be almost anywhere.
Per church records in Hungary, there were three sisters and five brothers. My mother's family knew the sisters and one brother. I've managed to nail him down plus one other. But two (this Joseph and a Janos) are still "at large". The fifth brother, Istvan, is also still a puzzle. I'm beginning to think that he never left Hungary and may well have managed inherited land for his brothers who did.
