Thank you so much for replying to my post. You are correct about Modos being part of Serbia as I received another email about my search. My great-grandfather and great-grandmother were born in Szt. Hubert as that is what they stated on the ship manifest when they visited my grandfather and uncle in New York in 1910.On Peter's passport application in 1921, he said he was going to Roumania and I thought that's what the name change was.
My great-grandfather died around 1921 in Modos and I would like to be able to do find out what I can about my family history in Hungary, i.e. births, deaths, etc.I believe that Peter and Conrad had a sister as well.
I was able to trace my great-uncle, Peter up until 1921, however, could not find out if he returned to America or what happened to him.I found a ship manifest for Gizella, who returned to America via New York in 1923.Her address is listed as living in Lakewood, Illinois at the time. After that, I could not find out any information of her or for that matter, my cousins. So, I was not successful in getting any contact with either Paul's or Albert's (Bela) family for any history. I also could not find anything for Wilhelm. I have no idea what church would have been used at that time in that location either.
Plese if you can, point me in the right direction to try and locate information back in Hungary.I know that my great-grandmother's name was Anna Gazak at least that's what shows on Conrad's death certificate. They were Roman Catholics as well.I would appreciate it so mucn.
