As we all know, the 1940 US Census was released a few weeks ago. Although my mother was supposedly the only child born that generation, according to the 1940 census, that was not so. I need information on a Mary Turner that was living with Harry and Mabel Turner at the time the census was taken. According to the census, Mary was 7 years, was listed as Harry Turner's niece, was attending school, and had already completed one full year of school at that time. I don't know if she would have been in second grade, or if she was in the first grade at the time; I guess that would depend on if she went to kindergarten or not. The census shows that in 1935, Mary lived in Fairfield County, Ohio and that she lived in an area of an "unpopulated" area; meaning less than two to three thousand people, no parents are mentioned. My grandfather had three sisters and one brother living at the time. My grandfathers siblings were Ella Turner-Cripps, Anna Latha Turner-Baker-Stedman, Mary Ethel Turner and brother Ray Turner. My grandparents lived in the Utica area of Lancaster, Ohio and lived on Forth St.This little girl would have been born +/- 1933. I tend to think Mary's mother was Mary Ethel, but can find no record proving. Any assistance in finding out anything on this mystery girl would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
