HARRIET L. LINDSEY, daughter of SAMUEL and ELIZA LINDSEY, was born in Fayette County, Ohio, July 4, l85l, and died at her home in Leon, Iowa, June 23, l924, aged 72 years, ll months and l9 days. When she was five years old, her parents removed to Washington County, Richmond, Iowa, and two years later, in l858, to Decatur County where she has spent all her life since. Here on October 5, l87l, she was married to W.J. SULLIVAN, and into this home one son, CHAS E., was born. He died in l892. MISS NELLIE CAIN, now MRS. MILES, as a girl of nine, came into their home and now mourns MRS. SULLIVAN as a mother.
In l890, in the meeting conducted in Leon by Wm. A. Sunday, MRS. SULLIVAN with her husband, accepted Christ and the same year they were received into membership in the Methodist Episcopal Church. As long as strength permitted, MRS. SULLIVAN was active in church duties for many years and sang in the choir and even of late months has occasionally attended her church, the Guild and the meetings of the Sorosis Club of which she was a charter member. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters. Besides her husband, who will most bitterly feel the loss of a life companion, two brothers, M.F. LINDSEY and WADE LINDSEY, and one sister, MRS. MARY J. MARTIN, all of Leon, with uncounted friends, survive.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, Wednesday, June 26th, conducted by Rev. J.E. Habliston and were largely attended. Interment in the Leon Cemetery.
