My ggg-grandfather, Samuel Gamble, married a Susanna Heavilin (parents Adam Heavilin and Lucinda McCain) in 1848 in Harrison County, Ohio. I have found them in the 1850 in Stock Township and in the 1870 census in Monroe Township. In the 1880 census, Samuel and Susanna (and their children) are gone. Samuel was a farmer. My direct line is through John Gamble, their oldest son. He is the only child of Samuel and Susanna I've been able to find.He is still in Monroe Twp in the 1880 census.
Does anyone have any information on these families or any changes to the area, such as railroads going through people's farms? At least one of John Gamble's children was born at Station 15, Harrison Co., and I've found a map that shows part of a railroad being put in through that area. Does anyone have any information on railroad construction in the area in the 1870's - 1880's?Also, I'm not familiar with the area, so does anyone know what towns were part of Monroe Township? Thanks for any help.
