Hi Donna, I know this message is old but I see you are still posting as of 2008.
I think we might have a "Patterson" connection as both our patterson families hail from Harrison County. I think my Thomas is the one you were referring to. He was born abt.1811, Ohio/Penn and married Julia A/Juliana unknown.
Children are John b.Abt.1834, Mary b.Abt.1836, James b.Abt. 1839, Sarah Jane b.Abt. 1842, Elizabeth b.Abt. 1846, Christiana b.Abt. 1851 Probably Perry County, Ohio, Louisa b. 06 Jun 1857, definitely Perry County.
My notes for the 1840 census:
1840 United States Federal Census > Ohio > Harrison > North Thomas and family and below him a "John" Patterson, age 80-90 who probably was his father considering the fact that Thomas's first born son was named John. There is also a male in the John Patterson household that could be another brother to Thomas.
My notes for the 1850 Census:
1850 United States Federal Census > Ohio > Harrison > North Thomas is age 38born in PA and claims to be a farmer. His wife spelled Juliana is age 36 and also claims to have been born in PA. Their children are John age 15, Mary age 13, James age 10, Sarah J age 6 and Elizabeth age 4. States that all children were born in Harrison County. There are other "Patterson's" on this same page. Probably John's family. William age 26, born in Jefferson County, his wife Sarah Ann, age 21, born in Harrison Co, and Margaret A age 6 months also born in Harrison County. Below them, in the next household is Margaret, age 56 born in Ireland, probably Thomas's mother, also two girls, Elizabeth age 27 and Jane age 24 both born in Jefferson County.
I would even hazzard a guess that his mother's name might be Elizabeth and not Margaret, or a combination of the two.
My notes for the 1860 census:
1860 United States Federal Census > Ohio > Hocking > Perry Thomas age 49, and his wife, spelled Julian is age 46. Children in the household are John, age 26. Mary age 24, James age 21, Sarah Jane, age 18. Christiana, age 9 and Louisa, age 3 yrs. All children born in Ohio. Thomas is a farmer. No daughter named Elizabeth in this census, who would be approximately 14, so she might have died.
Thomas and Julia/Julian both claim Ohio and Penn as their birthplaces but I would suspect Pa for both of them.
Next, I find my Patterson's in Madison County Ohio:
1870 United States Federal Census > Ohio > Madison >Thomas, age 59 now claims Ohio as his birth state. Julia A age 56,also claims ohio. There are three daughters, one age 20, named Crissana(Christiana), Louisa age 13, Mary (married name unreadable) who is age 38, with three females, Eliza J age 12, Harriet age 9, and Flora age 6, who I assume are her daughters. Everyone born in Ohio. Parents cannot read or write. The census states Mary lives with her father, no husband is present.
Sorry this is getting so lengthy. Thomas is my gr-gr grandfather and his daughter Louisa "Patterson" Richardson is my great grandmother. Louisa and Mathew Richardson's daughter Ethel Richardson Watson is my grandmother.
Was wondering if you ever connected with any of these? Sincerely Bonnie Watson Miller
